As a student assistant at Uppsala International Hub, you will play a hands-on role in making international talent feel at home in Uppsala. You will support the planning and delivery of social events, networking activities and communication efforts that strengthen our community of international professionals, students and their families.
Your tasks will vary but may include:
You will be part of a small and ambitious team working to make Uppsala an even more attractive place for global talent. This role offers great opportunities to gain experience in event coordination, internationalization and place branding – while making a real difference for people arriving in Uppsala from around the world.
Work may occasionally take place outside regular office hours, including evenings or weekends, in connection with events.
We are looking for someone who is currently pursuing university or college studies (at least 50% and have completed at least 60 university credits) in a relevant field such as social sciences, communication, event management, international relations, or similar. If you are currently studying at Uppsala University or SLU, it is considered a plus. If your studies are in international migration, intercultural communication, or place marketing, it is considered an advantage.
We see that you have experience in service, event, or administrative work. It is an advantage if you have experience working in an international environment, organizing events, or working with communication on social media.
The role requires that you have excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written. We also prefer that you have knowledge of Swedish and familiarity with Uppsala as a city and student life. It is also advantageous if you have experience working with Canva or similar tools, social media, or basic newsletter systems.
As a person, you are communicative and have an easy time listening and adapting your way of communicating, which makes you good at creating, maintaining, and developing professional relationships. You are flexible and can see opportunities in changes. Furthermore, you take initiative and start activities to achieve results. The job suits you if you are a service-oriented person who is calm, attentive, and accommodating in your approach. Last but not least, you have a good ability to work in a structured and independent manner.
