A hall for all

The operations is managed by 'Musikens Hus i Uppsala AB', a wholly-owned city company within Uppsala Stadshus AB.

The operations include concerts, congresses and conferences, café and restaurant, exhibitions, trade fairs, banquets etc. The activities are partially a reflection of cultural policy and partially commercial. Concerts and congress/conference constitute equal shares of the activities.

The concert activities are characterized by a wide range, diversity and quality. Quality is assessed within the various genres, and not among categories. The program span from a local perspective to a global one.

Musik i Uppland, intended as a permanent tenant, illustrates the concert offerings with its ensembles and productions. External organizers, commercial and amateurs/associations, take responsibility for the major part of the musical program. Musikens Hus i Uppsala AB complements the other participants with its own concert functions.

The congress and conference activities meet the needs of and cooperate with trade and industry, the academic world, tourist industry, institutions, organizations and associations in the local, national and international arenas.

Congress and conference activities are dynamic, offensive and a driving force for all of Uppsala.

The operations are financed in part through income generated from rent, receipts and ticket sales and income from engagements including sponsorships, and partly from reimbursement from the Cultural affairs board.

Benefit
The decision to build the concert and congress hall was based on local deliberations. But the facilities have a meaningful role also in a larger regional context. The results of investments in the infrastructure for tourism can be seen from the standpoint of the individual, and from trade and industrial and societal perspectives.
