These rules apply to the public libraries (Stadsbiblioteket) on Svartbäcksgatan 17, the municipal branch libraries and the mobile library. The rules are to insure the best possible utilization of the library´s media resources.
At all public libraries in Uppsala, books and other materials may be borrowed at no charge. Reference books, newspapers and magazines are available for use in the library. Also available are the Internet workstations at the IT-torget.
Library card
In order to check out materials you need a library card. Show identification with a photograph in order to obtain one. Children require the signature of a parent. Remember to always bring the card with you when visiting the library. Please report any changes in name or address as soon as possible. If you lose the card, please notify the loss immediately.
Renewal
Books are renewable as a rule, but not if requested by someone else. You may renew books by telephone on +46 (0)18 727 17 03 Monday - Friday 9-11 a.m. You can also renew books from the library catalogue, by telephone or when you visit the library. To renew from the on-line catalogue choose Personal data and then Your loans from the menue. You need a pin code in order to renew your loans from the library catalogue. The code is received from the lending desk.
Lost books
Lost or damaged books shall be replaced at a value determined by the library.
Loan period
The loan period is normally 4 weeks.
Requesting a book
If you want a book that is checked out, you may request it for a fee. Please turn to the librarians at the reference desk. You can also borrow books from another library.
Fines
Overdue books are subject to a fine. If you returned the book after they are due, the amount are automatically charged to your library card. After the loan period has expired, the library will send you a reminder. If a borrower has not returned library books or paid overdue charges, despite reminders, borrowing privileges will be revoked. When the borrowed materials have been returned to the library, or when the bill for lost books are paid, privileges are reinstated.
