Commerce and Industry structure

Uppsala, with 195 000 inhabitants and its industry and commerce and university profile, is one of the main centres of the Mälar region. The basic preconditions for well developed industry and commerce can be found here: A well educated workforce, good communications and proximity to the Central Swedish and East European markets.

Uppsala is dominant within three areas

Life Science

With several unique faculties, internationally active pharmaceutical companies, several government bodies and broad medical competence, Uppsala is the Nordic countries' leading Life Science centre.

IT/Data/Telecom

There is access within the Uppsala area to most facilities within tele- and data communication.

Trade and Distribution

Good communications and Uppsala's location make the municipality attractive for both local, regional and international trade. Trade and distribution already play a very important role in Uppsala's industry and commerce.
