Uppsala is a well known university city with centuries of ideas, discoveries and traditions. Thousands of students come here every year to spend several years in the city of learning. Uppsala is also Sweden's archbishopric with the Cathedral (Domkyrkan) as a reminder of its strong church traditions.
Dynamic industrial and commercial municipality
But Uppsala does not rest on its traditions. Today's Uppsala, with 190 000 inhabitants, is a dynamic industrial and commercial city where knowledge, ideas and entrepreneurship are at the centre. At Uppsala University, extensive research is carried out in a number of fields for industry, commerce and entrepreneurship. Research activity at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet) is also important and of interest also for industry and commerce and entrepreneurship outside the agricultural sector.
